A NEW private cardiac centre in Bristol hopes to treat up to 500 NHS patients a year to help ease waiting lists.
The £1.5 million cardiac suite at Spire Hospital in Redland will treat about 20 patients a month over the next four months.
Cardiologist Dr Edward Duncan said this was the first time complex procedures had been offered in a private hospital in the region.
Hospital director Rob Anderson said: "We've created a world-class centre in terms of equipment and brought together some of the top experts in heart health."
Cardiologist Dr Andrew Skyrme-Jones said: "The new Cath Lab facilities are state of the art and are likely to attract patients from across the UK.
"It means we can treat even more patients on-site and offer rapid access to a whole new range of cardiac services."
