Clifton Ladies need to regroup after a the Canterbury loss

CLIFTON Ladies returned from Canterbury pointless after losing 4-2.

The home side started confidently taking the lead early in the game and two further first-half goals saw Canterbury well in control at the break.

Steph Addison pulled a goal back in the second half, only for the home side to get a fourth to restore their three-goal lead.

Els Mansell scored Clifton's second goal shortly before the end. Aileen Davies was player of the match for the losers who now have to regroup before Saturday's home games with Surbiton at Coombe Dingle (11.30am).

In National Conference West, a Lily Owsley goal in the 68th minute earned Firebrands a 1-1 draw with visitors Barnes, Hounslow, Ealing.

Firebrands entertain Gloucester City in a West Country derby at Clifton College on Saturday (12 noon).

Firebrands Men are away at Havant on Saturday.

In Davis Wood Men's League, Firebrands 3rds drew 2-2 against leaders Minehead, Rich Bacon and debutante Will Godfrey scored the goals.

Firebrands 2nds were comfortable winners 7-0 at Penarth with goals scored by Mark Greatholder (3), Tom Crook (2), Michael Caplan and Ali Price.

Westbury/Utd Banks lost 6-1 against Robinsons B, Owen Kemp scored the solitary goal and Chris Poulsom scored for Westbury/Utd Banks 2nds who went down 2-1at Bristol University B. Chris Butt (2), Tom Colquhoun and Tom Sammes helped Westbury/Utd Banks 3rds win 4-1 against Fry's.

James Pearce-Smith scored for Westbury/Utd Banks Wanderers in a 1-1 draw with Bristol and West A.

Justin Chave and Mark Colton gave Westbury/Utd Banks Warriors a 2-1 victory over Bristol and West E and Mark Crofts, Andy Griffin, Pete Thomas and Terry Watts scored in a 4-0 win for Westbury/Utd Banks Widgets over South Glos B.

In West Women's League, Amy Kynaston (3), Becky Murray (2), Alice Stephens and Rachael Gardener helped Thornbury to a 7-1 victory over Stroud and Lisa Punter scored the only goal for Avonmouth, who lost 4-1 against Redland 2nds.
