Police are appealing for the public's help to identify the man, whose body was discovered in Bristol yesterday morning (February 20).

The body of the man, believed to be in his early 40s, was found in Thomas Street about 8.15am.

A police spokesman said: "A post mortem has confirmed that the injuries were consistent with a fall rather than an assault and the death is not thought to be suspicious. A toxicology test is to be carried out."

"The man is described as white man of average/medium build. He is thought to be in his early 40s and had dark/greying receding hair.

"He was wearing a black and grey hooped jumper and blue pyjama style shorts with black socks and sandals. He also had a rucksack with him.

"We would like to hear from anyone who may know the man from the description."

Anyone able to help is asked to contact Bristol CID on the force number 101 or on-line using the following link http://www.avonandsomerset.police.uk/contact/crime_reporting/
