It's only two days until Christmas and many of you will be whizzing around supermarkets, furiously wrapping the last of your gifts and prepping your homes in time for the family arrival. However, it's only one week until New Year's Eve and with all the commotion of Christmas getting in the way, you may have left it a bit last minute. Fear not, here's a few events happening in your area to make this year's end of year that extra bit special.

If you're situated around the Gloucester Road area and don't fancy heading to a ticketed event, then look no further than your brilliant local pubs. The Flyer, The Bishops and The Prince of Wales all have fantastic events going on including live music, fancy dress and of course great drinks. Get down there early mind, as the pubs are sure to be full by the 9pm mark.

Cotham Hill and it's surrounding area will also be thriving on New Year's Eve, with it's many trendy bars and pubs. Head to The Deco Lounge for a great atmosphere, the Gallery Cafe Wine Bar for a fantastic selection of drinks or the Kensington Arms for more of a sports bar approach.

If you and your partner are looking for something really luxurious this year, then look no further than the Clifton Lido. The evening will start with arrivals drinks and canapes at 8pm, followed by a four course set meal in the restuarant overlooking the swimming pool. The New Year will be welcomed in by the traditional sound of bagpipes and the bar will be serving until 1am. With tickets at £49.50 per person, it really is quite a luxurious bargain!

The Shakespeare on Lower Redland Road offers an array of traditional cask ales, largers and ciders that go perfectly with their traditional pub grub. This will be a fantastic venue for older relatives or a family do. Plus, if you sign up to their website, you get a free drink voucher! Best get the whole family involved and the first round could be on you.

If you can't face the crowds and prices of New Year's Eve you could always stay in with your loved ones. Why not get a few nibbles from Chandos Deli, some drinks from Corks of Cotham and sit back, relax and zone out to some good ol' BBC1. Happy New Year!
