Whiteladies Picture House in Bristol
As the building on Whiteladies Road reaches it's 90th birthday milestone, David Fells and Alan Mandel Butler have revealed their plans to turn it into a thriving arts centre - rather than another block of flats, as many developers have suggested.
Mr Fells is manager of Bristol's Redgrave Theatre and Mr Butler an actor - together, the creative pair have a vision for this Bristol landmark, which has been closed or a decade now. They were given access to the building by owners last year and hope to open it again in the not too distant future, as a not-for-profit venture.
"Once we walked in, we knew that this was a lost gem of Bristol and a complete wreck!" Mr Mandel told Bristol 247. "Everything we are now thinking is to take the Picture House back to what it used to be."
They want to create a community arts space for theatre, music, comedy and regular film nights as well as dance shows, exhibitions, weddings and private parties but they need help to make their dream a reality.
You can help them by backing their campaign. More information at www.whiteladies-picturehouse.com

This is brilliant news! I'm fed up with having to pay extortionate prices at the larger cinema's for poorer atmosphere, service and film choice. It's fantastic to keep culture alive and I very much look forward to it opening!

ReportSounds like an excellent plan, who needs more newbuilld flats? No one can afford them. This plan will help the community more. Public places for people!
