It is was aimed at anyone who is a landlord or letting agent, or who is considering entering the private rental market.

Councillor Anthony Negus, Cabinet Member for Housing, Property Services and Regeneration, said: "The council offers a wide range of help and support in order to make it easier for people to let out property and to understand and meet their statutory responsibilities. This event will enable anyone interested to find out more."

Ashley Haskell, 33, is about to rent out her Redland home and move to a new place in Clifton. She said: "I didn't know where to start when it came to renting out my home, all the legal requirements and safeguards etc. I was just planning on handing the responsibility over to a letting agent but I'd love to manage it myself without having to pay a middle man so events like these seem really helpful."

The event, which finishes at 7pm tonight, was organised by South Gloucestershire, Bristol, North Somerset, and Bath & North East Somerset Councils and sponsored by Andrews Letting & Management. More info at www.landlordexpo.co.uk
