Tesco Express on Whiteladies Road in Bristol is set to re-open over the next few weeks after it was gutted by fire.

Firefighters were called to tackle a blaze at the busy store on June 24.

A spokesman for Tesco has just confirmed that work is being done to repair the store - which they hope to re-open at the end of July or the beginning of August at the latest - six weeks after the fire took hold.

This is welcome news for a lot of Redland residents who have been having to head further down Whiteladies Road to Somerfield or Sainsbury's for their groceries.*

The spokesman also said the cause of the fire was still unknown though the fire service were carrying out a full investigation.

*It also comes as welcome news to me - after traipsing all the way to 169 Whiteladies Road to collect a parcel from the Post Office, only to find it was the branch attached to Tesco Express! It took me ages to arrange a re-delivery. Bloomin fire!!
