Bus passengers in Bristol will see a number of changes to services in Redland, Clifton, Southville and Lockleaze from next month.

First is to make a series of route alterations, aimed at improving reliability, after consulting residents.

The routes affected will be the 8 and 9 to Clifton and Redland; the 24 and 25 to Southville and the 24 and 25 to Lockleaze.

The changes will come into effect from Sunday, September 27.

The company carried out the consultation in June, placing leaflets encouraging people to share their views in libraries, pharmacies, shops and cafes along the bus routes.

A further 5,000 customers were contacted directly but in all only 200 people responded online or by post.

The changes include running alternate 8s and 9s from Temple Meads to the Triangle every five minutes, and every 10 minutes from Temple Meads to Redland.

The service route has been changed to run along Redland Road, Redland Hill and Whiteladies Road, with more time allowed to deal with any congestion along Redland Hill. Although the majority of respondents opposed the changes to the Southville route, all 24 and 25 buses will follow the same journey between the centre and Ashton Vale, running every 10 minutes during the day.

They will now run along Luckwell Road, Duckmoor Road, Ashton Road, North Street and Dean Lane.

All 24 and 25 buses travelling to Lockleaze from the Centre will now follow the same route, along Muller Road, Shaldon Road, Romney Avenue, Gainsborough Square, Bonnington Walk, Wordsworth Road, Lockleaze Road, Filton Avenue and Muller Road, before terminating at the Muller Road bus depot.

Commercial director of First Bristol, Somerset and Avon, Simon Cursio, said: "We take the views of our customers seriously and really value what they have to say, as this helps us identify the issues that really matter to people."
