Hundreds of people took advantage of a gap in the rain to visit the Redland Green Fair this May Day.

Families, couples, residents and visitors all headed to the beautiful Redland Green to wander round the stalls, watch the Morris men and enjoy some delicious food.

Among the organisations represented at the afternoon event were the Redland and Cotham Amenities Society, Redland Allotment Association and the Wallace and Gromit Grand Appeal.

The Redland Safer Community Partnership were also on hand to give people advice on how to keep their homes safe.

There were also stalls selling bric-a-brac, vinyl records and even cacti.

Entertainment was provided by some local Morris Men troupes and the magnificent Redland Wind Band.

With food from the much loved Bristol institution Falafel King, which has a permanent branch in Redland and some dedicated chefs manning the barbecue no-one went hungry. And many took advantage of the wonderful home made cakes baked by Redland Scouts and Redland Green School as well as the well placed ice cream van.

Unsurprisingly, the politicians were out in force canvassing for some last minute votes from Redland folk.

Lib Dem Stephen Williams was chatting electoral reform with visitors to his distinctive orange and yellow stall, Labour candidate Paul Smith was talking about the economy to people at his stand and Green Party candidate Ricky Knight was enthusiastically outlining his party's stance in front of a large Green Party flag.

According to some people, the Conservative candidate Nick Yarker was also wandering around though it was far from obvious leading many to assume they'd given up already...

Thanks for setting the record straight Laura,

It was a great event - best yet I reckon - and I'm so glad the weather pretty much held off.

Congratulations to everyone who made it happen.

You weren't the only one who didn't see them. There are loads of Tweets from people who think they're not bothering with Bristol West anymore. Here's hoping!!

In the interests of fairness - the Tories were out and about in force at Redland Green May Fair. Don't know how I missed them: tinyurl.com/3xcqrm6
