AT Redland High School for Girls, the overall pass rate (A*-C) was 99 per cent, the highest since 2005.

All the GCSE students achieved at least five A*-C passes. In fact 100 per cent gained at least eight.

Some 98.4 per cent of the students passed at least five A*-C GCSEs including English and mathematics and 27.4 per cent of GCSE candidates achieved all their passes at A* or A grades. Three girls achieved all their passes at A*: Amy Headley with 10 A*, Luna Li and Shirley Zhang with 11 A*s each.

Headteacher Caroline Bateson said: “We are still in a mood of celebration following last week’s A-level results in which, at 28.8 per cent, we achieved the highest level of A* grades in the whole of the city of Bristol. Now we have even more to celebrate as our GCSE candidates have acquitted themselves with such credit. They all have an opportunity now to take good A-level subjects and position themselves for top universities.”
