The snow is in preparation for an evening of snowboarding to be held in the park tonight (Thursday 10th) starting at 6.00 pm.
Event sponsors Red Bull have ordered 60 tonnes of snow from the Snow Dome in Milton Keynes to be placed within a few hundred metres of Park Street. A natural landing slope will be created for professional and semi-pro boarders from the region to take part in a Best Trick Knockout contest.
A five-metre high tower is also being installed as a drop in with a two-metre high kicker as well. The winner of tonight's event will be crowned Peak in the Park Champion and receive a £200 cash prize. Members of the University's ski club are expected to be well represented among the competitors.
Over 1,500 people have so far indicted via the event's facebook page that they plan on attending the event. Apres-ski will take place at The Park on Clifton Triangle.
Red Bull sponsor numerous sports events around the world from BMX to surfing.
